Session 12 - Short Summary
The Arctic atmospheric boundary layer plays a critical role in coupling the surface and free atmosphere through dynamics, turbulence, clouds, and exchanges of energy and constituents. This session invites contributions examining Polar boundary-layer processes, including stable boundary layers, near-surface stability and its role in lapse-rate feedback, turbulent structure and mixing, seasonal changes, and interactions with clouds. We also welcome studies exploring how surface heterogeneity influences boundary-layer structure and evolution, as well as the vertical transport and redistribution of moisture, aerosols, trace gases, and other constituents. Together, the session will highlight recent advances in understanding the processes that govern the Arctic boundary layer and their implications for the coupled Arctic system through observational and modeling studies.
