Arctic energy and water cycles

Session 05 - Short Summary

Polar-orbiting satellites, in situ observing networks, targeted field campaigns like those in (AC)3 and MOSAiC, and recent modeling advances, provide an unprecedented opportunity to quantify the rapidly changing Arctic energy and water cycles. To document current understanding and accelerate progress toward this goal, the Global Energy and Water Exchanges (GEWEX) Data Analysis Panel (GDAP) is coordinating an international Arctic energy and water cycle assessment. To kick-off this activity, this session welcomes observational and modeling contributions describing datasets and research directed toward quantifying Arctic energy and water fluxes and their uncertainties on both regional and pan-Arctic scales.
