Recent progress and future needs in Arctic system modeling

Keywords: MODEL, SYSTEM

Session 06 - Short Summary

Recent advances in Arctic system modeling are improving our ability to represent the complex processes and interactions that shape the rapidly changing Arctic. This session invites contributions highlighting progress in model capabilities targeting Arctic-relevant processes across the atmosphere, ocean, sea ice, land, ecosystems, biogeochemical cycles, and their coupled interactions, including successes demonstrated through observation-based model evaluation. We welcome studies identifying persistent model limitations, emerging challenges, and new approaches for improving the representation of key Arctic processes across scales. Together, the session will provide a forum to assess recent progress and explore priorities and future directions for advancing model tools used to understand and predict the Arctic system.
